About Department

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has been established since the inception of the institution in the year 2002 with a sanctioned intake of 60. With the development of new facilities and infrastructure the intake was increased to 120 in the year 2009 and further increased to 180 and 240 in the year 2013 and 2014 respectively. Complying with its vision statement, the department provides encouraging environment for converting its students into leaders with passion for innovation. The Department also offers PG courses in the areas of Thermal Engineering from Year 2010 and Machine Design from Year 2014. B.Tech course and M.Tech in Thermal Engineering are accredited by NBA. The Department has good infrastructure facilities and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories to fulfil the curriculum needs. The Department has well experienced faculty. Around one-third of the faculty members in the department are Doctorate. The Department has computing facilities to carry out various project works, seminars, workshops, simulation etc. UG and PG students are getting good exposures with the CNC machines, 3D Printers and Research Lab facilities. Many certification courses, workshops are organized for the students on usual basis. The department has good number of sanctioned projects, funded by different agencies/industries. The Department is intended to be allotted a Research Centre by JNTU Hyderabad. Also for UG (Mechanical) and PG (Thermal) got NBA Accreditation Tier 1 For Academic Year 2021 - 2022 to 2022 - 2023.
